The report added that Namdar Faiz-Abadi conducted the abduction with the help of another MKO member identified as Moshen Aslan Khan Afshar, 27, who undertook a name change in 2008 to Elias Vecalius, and 26-year-old Magnus Dahlskog. Namdar Faiz-Abadi and her two accomplices later contacted Ahman’s family and demanded a ransom to free their son. The MKO has sought ways to prevent the dissemination of the news as it could frustrate its lobbying efforts to get off the US State Department’s foreign terrorist organization list. The MKO fled to Iraq in 1986, where it enjoyed the support of Iraq's executed dictator Saddam Hussein, and set up its camp near the Iranian border. The group is also known to have cooperated with Saddam in suppressing the 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq and carrying out the massacre of Iraqi Kurds. The MKO has carried out numerous acts of violence against the Iranian civilians and government officials.
